Blood volume and circulation time in children.

چکیده
By means of these two methods there is determined only that portion of the total blood volume which is in rapid circulation, the other part, the so-called stored or depot blood, which is moving slowly or is almost stationary, being neglected. The organs which may act as blood depots are the spleen, the liver, the intestines, the sub-papillary plexus of the skin and possibly the muscles. The greater part of the capillary system of these organs is quite extensive enough to supply stored-up blood as and when required to the more rapid circulation or alternatively, withdraw rapidly circulating blood and store it. This action is regulated by the autonomic nervous system. The circulating blood volume as de-termined by the above methods is not absolutely fixed in quantity but chatnges within wide limits, according to the physiological or pathological conditions under which it is measured. At the same time the stored-up blood varies in the contrary direction, provided that the total volume of blood is not affected by external losses. In the latter case, the organs containing the stored-up blood strive to make good the loss of circulating blood by sending blood into the circulatory system.

Excretion of Acebutolol and its Major Metabolite Diacetolol into Infant Blood Circulation and the Breast Milk
Acebutolol (AC) is a chiral b-adrenergic blocking drug, which is useful clinically as the racemate in treating hypertension and is metabolized to an equipotent chiral metabolite, diacetolol (DC). In this paper we report a case of a 32 year old woman who was receiving AC during her pregnancy and lactating time for management of hypertension. The maternal plasma level and breast milk as well as c...

متن کاملThe Etiology of Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia
Etiology of Physiologic Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia. Every newborn infant develop·s hyperbilirubinemia during the first week of life which is called "physiologic". There are several factors responsible for the development of physiologic hyperbilirubinemia, as follows: 1. Increased bilirubin production, due to a - Increased blood volume. b - Decreased R.B.C. survival time. c - Increased in...
متن کاملCerebral hemodynamic change in the child and the adult with moyamoya disease.
To clarify the differences in cerebral hemodynamics and metabolism between children and adults with bilateral moyamoya disease, we measured regional cerebral blood flow, regional oxygen extraction fraction, regional metabolic rate for oxygen, regional cerebral blood volume, and regional transit time using positron emission tomography in nine patients (five children and four adults) and compared...
متن کاملP-211: Quantitative Changes of Fetal DNA in Maternal Circulation during Pregnancy Based on Detection of SRY Gene in Ovine Species
Background: It is well documented that fetal DNA can cross the placenta and is present in peripheral maternal blood during pregnancy in human. This fetal DNA also named circulating cell free fetal DNA, has emerged as a valuable source for genetic evaluation. Compared with humans, ovine species have a different structure of placental (synepitheliochorial) with no direct contact between the troph...
